In May 2012, Macroocean’s project, " water based polyester resin for environmental starching", has been authenticated by Ministry of National Science and Technology, and identified as 2012 National Torch Plan industrialization demonstration project.
National Torch Plan was approved by Chinese government in August 1988, which was carried out by Ministry of National Science and Technology. The aim of the plan is to develop Chinese high-tech industry, and to promote the commercialization of high-tech results, industrialization of high-tech products, internationalization of high-tech industry by virtue of the advantages and potential of the scientific and technological strength, and the market direction function. The torch plan project is an important part of the torch plan, through the way of project demonstration, it will help enterprises to guide the implementation of the torch plan, develop high-tech products, and thus it will promote the formation of high-tech enterprises and enterprise groups.
Macroocean’s project ," water based polyester resin for environmental starching", is to do the research of water based polyester resin for environmental starching, base on the Macroocean Lab, which has built high-performance polymer research platform, functional adhesive binder technology platform and textile environmental-friendly new materials technology platform.
Warp sizing is an important part of the textile process, which can directly affect the quality and effect of textile. Presently, one of the more common size used is polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), however it has some disadvantages such as not easy to be dissolved, with the excellent film, higher price, not easy to be degraded, not environmental friendly. It is considered as the "unclean pulp", so in the developed countries it has been ordered to ban the export of PVA size or textile with PVA. In our country, "with little or no PVA" has also been put forward. Our company's water based polyester resin for environmental starching can completely replace PVA in sizing, and because water-soluble nano composite material has good hydrolysis, wear resistance and mechanical properties, as a result, it not only transcends the PVA sizing material in the area of cost and performance, but also it can make up for the performance issues and environmental issues of the existing PVA textile sizing material.
